River Rafting in Cusco – Urubamba River Rafting

Day by Day

We will meet you at our office  We will then take you on a 1 1/2-hours bus ride through a beautiful and very scenic  to Chuquibambilla Camp. Once we get there, you will have time to change into river rafting clothes and will choose a wet suit we provide. Afterwards, you will pick a helmet, a life-jacket, and a paddle.

Once you are ready, your guides will offer a field briefing of all the details you need to successfully navigate the rapids. If your group is less than 4 people, you will have to join another group to complete the minimum group size requested for each raft.

You and your group will pull the raft to the river where you will learn the commands. Once on the raft and far from the shore, the real fun will start. The river is smooth at the beginning, giving you the chance to practice the commands when the guide tells you, but don’t worry, the rapids will come soon. When you feel like the river is getting rougher, it’s time to paddle. Suddenly the rapids pop up, and you will begin paddling. Be prepared to get wet, even if you don’t fall out of the raft! Water splashes everywhere, and it’s cold! You will be glad that you are wearing the wetsuit and a wind cutter.

It is very important to follow the guide’s instructions and paddle seriously along with the commands in order to keep a good balance of the boat. After various rapids, the river calms down for a while, giving you the chance to rest for a little while until the next rapids come. After two hours and a half, your ride is about to come to an end, and your guide will get you to the shore.

After you dry off and change from your wetsuit into warm clothing, you will have a delicious lunch. And, if you still have energy, you will be able to do some Zip-lining! Finally, you can enjoy a good nap on the ride back to Cusco, where we will be arriving around 5:30 -6:00 p.m.
