The
knowledge acquired through one's own living is
the one that teaches best, this is the best way
how I can describe a Native of the Community of
Q'ero, a place where I have been able to find
invaluable sensations, where my spirit has received
great satisfactions and allegories, and it is
thanks to their innocence and wisdom accumulated
and saved for thousands of years and which they
shared with me spontaneously that my spirit has
lifted to the most perfect and unexplored skies;
even the actual territory of the Q'ero blends
homogeneously with the inhabitants to give a world
that is mystical and religious and seems to be
beyond the reach of time. |

The Andes and the Amazon of Peru are guarding transcendental
legacies for the world. Many of them have been forgotten
or just destroyed by the uncontrollable advance of technology,
many trees have fallen in the forests - many ancestral
teachings have been lost in the new urban ground, and
in the Andes many interests - religious, economic and
personal - have transformed communities that were full
of wisdom into places of extreme personal and spiritual
poverty; unfortunately this would seem to be the direction
in which all the Andean and Amazonian communities are
being pushed, without measuring what we ourselves are
taking from ourselves.

Walking
around in the world I have been able to learn
from diverse teachings, and the best lessons have
been from those persons who live close to nature
and who are connected with the teachings of their
forefathers; it is very sad to see that territories
and persons with much wisdom and natural beauty
are disappearing daily. That is why I decided
to create a means by which all this ancestral
knowledge may be given a value, where the natives
and those who live in full contact with nature
can continue and maintain their communion with
it and so continue to transmit their knowledge
to new generations. |

In 1998 I created PumaPeru Foundation, a Non-Profit Organization,
directed at the enormous task of rescuing, valuing and
re-teaching all the cultural, philosophical and religious
manifestations of those Andean and Amazonian communities
which find themselves in imminent danger of extinction;
but the real beginning of my aid to these communities
began more than ten years ago, developing a study and
evaluation of the communities, zones and familial groups,
the conclusion was that the first reason for their decay
and loss was the imposition of new religious ideas,
urban laws and even a system of education that is outside
of their reality.
